change in child support law

August 19, 2012

As you likely know, Indiana’s law on child support recently changed.  As of July 1, 2012, a payor’s obligation to support a child generally terminates when the child reaches 19 years of age.  Before the change in law, the payor’s obligation to pay child support generally lasted until the child reached 21 years of age.

If you are a parent responsible for paying child support and have a child that is at least 19 years of age, contact my office to schedule an appointment to discuss the termination of this obligation.
